"I'm Back From Vacation"

Hey y'all, I'm back. Group Classes and Private sessions are back on.

 

2. Announcement 2:
"Self Defense/Martial Arts Classes Begin"

It is official. I will begin teaching Self Defense/ Martial Arts classes on Thursdays at 5:30 pm.

July 31st will be the first session. I highly recommend you attend this first session as I will lay the foundation of the class and drop some real-life self defense philosophy on you.


Here is a quick synopsis of the class:

I am compiling my years of Martial Arts background along with my recent training, with Martial Arts Legend Paul Vunak, into a no-nonsense approach to defending yourself against a violent encounter.

The class will be low to no contact, this is not a sport Martial Art class, no one will be leaving with bloodied noses!

This class is ideal for:
• Women
• Men
• Law enforcement
• Security personnel
• Everyday folks who want to have fun and learn to defend themselves

This class is not for:
• Young children (contact me for children's training)
• Thugs who get into fights

We will be covering various aspects including but not limited to:
• Defending against home invasion
• Parking lot attack
• Defending against assault/rape
• Defending the sucker punch
• Knife and club defense
• Using weapons of opportunity
• Gun disarms
• Multiple attackers
• Real ground fighting, illegal in sport combat
• Using lethal force when absolutely necessary (saving your life)
• How to use non-lethal force if possible (controlling suspects or the drunk friend)
• Cheating to win so you don't have to be bigger, stronger, faster or more skilled than your attacker
• Degrees of aggression, how to deal with a drunk agitator versus a violent attacker.
• I will teach the same systems that Paul Vunak teaches to the Navy's SEAL Team Six and law enforcement agencies around the country

So, how do you get involved with this?

Well first off you must be in Colorado so you can attend my class. (if you are not then email me about long distance or private training options)

I am very excited to offer this as I don't believe this type of training is offered anywhere in the Denver area. I feel very passionately that this is the type of information and training that all law abiding citizens should have!

4. Training Tip: "Amazing Videos"

Today I'm going to show you some amazing videos that showcase high levels of skill, athleticism, body control, timing, etc.

Why am I showing these?

Well, first off, because they are cool and motivating. Second, to illustrate a point. None of these feats were achieved by skipping training sessions. Or by being halfhearted about their training. They all took time and dedicated hard work to acquire. All of these athletes stuck to the basics and trained them over and over, perhaps racking in thousands of repetitions to finely hone their performance.

What if you have no aspirations of being a top athlete or performing a mind boggling feat?

What if your goals are to lose body fat and tone or build muscle?

What if your goals are as humble as eliminating pain and reclaiming your body?

The same principles apply. Do your Z Health and kettlebells (or whatever) every day. Do the things that make improvements in your body. Eat the things that allow you to lose body fat and/or build muscle. Don't eat the things that store body fat. (Better yet, don't buy them. Will power is a farse. If you have them in the house, you will eat them, I would! So don't buy them.)



Check out this impressive display of kettlebell juggling. All I can tell is that this is some strange Russian version of America's Got Talent or something. This gal is amazing with her kettlebell.
 

This is my buddy Jason from Lubbock, TX, he is an RKC and has leaps! Jason basically jumps to head level in this video.
 
Jason shared his training program he used to achieve this: lots of basics of kettlebell front squats, snatches, swings, presses and getups. A strong focus on improving on the basics.

Here is Cung Le demonstrating why he is an undefeated champion in both San Shao kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts. I mean this guy is freaking unbelievable!
 

In this video, Sr. RKC Kenneth Jay is training Mark Madsen from Denmark, for the Olympics. Mark is favored to win his weight class and I can see why. Mark is a wrestler and that is why you will see him doing Turkish Get Ups with a heavy sandbag on his shoulder and swings with a large barrel. Notice the intensity of his kettlebell swings. This is how champions are made.

5. Nutrition Tip: "Raw Milk"

Raw Milk: Not Only Does It Taste Great!


Raw milk?  What is it all about? Is it safe?
Back in the day, you could get all kinds of raw milk products.  That was all you could get. Fresh raw whole milk, real clabber and buttermilk, luscious naturally yellow butter, fresh farm cheeses and cream in various colors and thicknesses.

We are the only animals on the planet that indulge in milk after childhood.  And boy does it taste good.  But recently it has been blamed for all kinds of illnesses, from allergies to heart disease and even cancer, but when all we could get was ‘real’ milk – raw milk, these diseases were relatively rare.  We have moved from small producers to large mega production plants that use ultra-high temperatures to pasteurize the milk in order to supply milk that has a ridiculously long shelf life (think up to 6 months!?!) which is more profitable for the dairy industry. 

Raw milk left out will sour naturally (think buttermilk) but pasteurized milk will rot. Pasteurizing milk destroys enzymes, diminishes vitamins, denatures fragile milk proteins, destroys vitamin B12, and vitamin B6 (that is why they add back in vit. D, etc),  kills beneficial bacteria and promotes pathogens. This is because the beneficial bacteria in the raw milk helps to keep putrefactive bacteria under control. Pasteurized milk, however, does not have any of the beneficial bacteria left to keep it from rotting.  They even did some studies and found that if you put bad bacteria into raw milk, it couldn’t survive 24 hours.  The good bacteria in the raw milk out-competed the bad so that it couldn’t be found later. Not only does raw milk taste better than pasteurized milk – it is smooth, creamy and subtly sweet, raw milk is an outstanding source of nutrients including beneficial bacteria such as lactobacillus acidophilus, vitamins and enzymes, and it is one of the finest sources of calcium available. Even better for you is raw goat milk.  And no, it is NOT ‘goaty’, it is a bit sweeter than cow’s milk, and is even easier for your body use.  Many people who are allergic to pasteurized milk can consume raw milk with no issues.
