I’ve posted articles about nutrition in the Articles section on the left. But suffice to say, eating 6 or so small meals throughout the day can be quite a challenge with our hectic schedules. Also getting good quality protein in the land of milk and honey isn’t easy. It seems that everywhere we go for food whether it be a fast food restaurant or sit down, the food is starchy and carbohydrate heavy, low in quality protein and high in the bad fats and low in the good fats.

Well like most unknowing but dedicated health buffs I used to go to a certain company to buy my protein and vitamin supplements. I won’t mention their name but their initials start with GNC ;-) 

Anyways I have found some excellent products that are more cost effective, have better ingredients than a lot of the junk out there and even taste good if you can believe that! I’m definitely not the type of person to recommend something I don’t use myself so all of the products below I personally use either daily or when needed.

To start let me just say that if we were to use the pyramid as our basis of proper nutrition, it would look like the picture below with high quality food as the foundational and most important ingredient. A quality multi-vitamin/mineral/phytonutrient would be next along with Omega 3 fatty acids found in fish oil. Finally any supplements that enhance such as creatine or whatever would be the last priority. Real food is at least 80% of it, the high quality multi-v/m/p is 18% and the other stuff is the rest.

Ok, here is my recommended list of supplements. You don’t need them all but most can help you reach your goals faster.
